1.2 install problem with mime

i installed version 1.2 on my machine and reboot into linux for the first
time.

i login as root and type startx at the shell promt. kde starts up and after
it creates the desktop, i get about 15 errors which all are related to the
mime/type.

is this a problem with the 1.2 installer. i performed the install 3 separte
times whith the last install, i took all the defaults and it still gives me
these mime errors when i start kde
