Another reason is that a lot of attacks come from behind the
firewall- someone inside the company who is not suppose to have
access to something...

Sales of intellectual information is a hot market, always run a
firewall if you can but assume that there isn't one, because for some
crackers getting behind the firewall is as easy as booting their
machine at their desk.
