It's possible it will be supported in the 2.4 kernel once its beyond
the "test" state...

The 2.4 kernel does pointer devices a lot better, with
/dev/input/mice as sort of a universal node for a mass number of
different pointer devices. Franz Sirl I believe is doing a lot of
work in that area.

I know there is USB support for many usb graphics tablets- but I
don't know about current support for adb type devices that do that.
