Red Hat's installer is pretty good, but YDL 1.2 installed painlessly
the first time on my Beige G3 and my Rev B iMac. (YDL's installer
looks a lot like the Red Hat ncurses install, and I'm pretty sure
that's what it is).

LinuxPPC 2000 wasn't as smooth...

My point wasn't that all hardware was easy install with ppc distros,
my point is that there is *still* lots of x86 hardware, and not the
newest, that has major install flaws with many x86 distros. Not user
input flaws either, flat out bad things (like a screwy XF86Setup
file, messed up keymappings, or lilo being bad)

Red Hat installs nicely on all of my boxes at work (including the
Sparc Ultra5) but we have people with Red Hat install problems who
knew what they were doing as well.

I just purchased SuSE 6.4 for PPC (arrived today) and plan on giving
it a test run on my iMac (rev B) tomorrow or Friday.
