I don't know how much this might help you, but for me on my Dual G4/450
I use ``boot hd:2,\\yaboot'' where 2 is the HFS partition (/dev/hda2)
with the yaboot.conf file on it. When you update the kernel, you also
have to make sure yaboot.conf has everything setup correctly before you
reboot or you'll run into problems. I believe ybin might be able to
help out with this situation, but I haven't checked it out yet.
