First things first- check your pram battery.
If your pram battery voltage is low (3.6 v for the cylindrical
(typically purple) ones- 4.5 V for the square kind) changing that
should fix it.
If your pram battery is fine, give your pram a good healthy zap-
hold Command-Option-P-R at boot, let it chime about four or five times.
The above suggestion, of course, assumes you are on a Mac.
