Can't get networking going -- newbie question

Iıve installed YDL 2.0 on a partition on my G4 Titanium PowerBook. The
major problem that I face is that I canıt get connected to my campus
network. During the boot sequence, I notice that all the various tests
pass, except the ³eth0², the message (as I recall) is that this test fails
as it was unable to obtain an IP address.

I have run netconfig through a terminal from KDE. After a brief wait, I get
the message that the DHCP server isnıt responding and that no IP can be
obtained. Iıve tried with BootP with the same result. When I boot back to
the MacOS, the same computer has no trouble finding the DHCP server and
obtaining its IP (BootP will also work).

Where should I start with this? Is this a question that I need to direct to
my local sys admin (that will be fun!!) or is there something I need to do
first on the laptop.

Any hints would be appreciated.
