This one bugged me many moons ago. Found the answer using Google and
reading too many forum postings, lol. If I remember correctly, 'setterm'
might be the command. Check the man pages [sorry, my linux box is down
:( ] xset is the one for X.

Im using a Power-mac 5400 that is an all-in-one unit and I am not using
X at all. There is no seperate switch to turn the monitor off and the
screen blanker is not working. How do I configure it to turn my display
off after so many minutes?
