Hmm. Must be a difference between superuser and root. Can I guess
that they both have the same authority, but different "paths?"

Logging in as root and typing "yup update"

- reads RPM database
- performs dependency sanity check
- while retrieving distribution info reports "Error:" and quits

So I am closer. Thanks Robert. But no yup cigar yet.
