Ah, but not all of us want to be experts in sys admin and I'll say that my
linksys router/hub is tremendous. Plenty of configurability and, after a
year and a half in continual use, rock solid. And the firewall
capabilities are substantially undersold -- it's the main reason I got it
in the first place.

Also, the power/fan noise footprint of that little box is substantially
smaller than a full machine with hard drives and hot chips. If you're not
interested in leaving your linux box on 100% of the time, it's a fabulous
solution.

I could have spent probably several hundred dollars in my own precious time
getting a linux firewall configured properly to protect itself and my
LAN. Instead I spent $150 and haven't had to fuss with a thing.
