PPP and kernel-2.4.4-3b on YDL 2.0

I installed kernel-2.4.4-3b (an rpm) and now ppp doesn't seem to work.
I use Roaring Penguin for pppoe on an ADSL modem(I recompiled it after
updating the kernel). /var/log/messages says that it couldn't find the
module.

I recompiled the kernel from source, but had the same problem.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so were you able to find the
fix?
