If you want access to the graphical commands, you need to run an X
server somewhere to view them. The best way to do this is run an X
server on your local machine - the program will run on the remote
system, and the display will appear on your local desktop among all your
other windows.

If you don't have an X server on your local machine (like XFree86 for
unix, or Exceed, or any of the others) then you will have to set up an
Xwindows environment on your server, and use VNC to remote control it on
your desktop. This is not a very good way of doing things, as your
server is running a whole graphical environment, and this environment
can only be accessed by one person at a time.

Another important tip - ditch telnet and install secure shell instead
(SSH). In fact it should already be installed on your server - you just
need a client to access it. SSH protects the connections with encryption
and strong authentication, whereas telnet shouts everything across the
network including your root password and other private information in
the clear.

Graham
