I'm following the guide..

I type ./configure and get the following

loading cache ./config.cache
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... no
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem; C compiler
cannont create executables

I just installed the gcc rpm's off of the YDL cd. What else do I
need to install/activate? I am new to gcc and the like...
