Subject: booting linux

I was trying to get my CD drive to work. Apple told me to do a hard
reset. I can still boot into Mac OS from the hard drive and from a CD,
but I can't boot into linux from either. No matter what I select, yaboot
dumps me into Open Firmware when I boot off the hard drive. Booting off
the CD just gives me an endless screen full of error messages.
Any ideas what to try next?
