The latest 2.4.x kernels compile right out of the package. so you just
download and compile yourself a nice kernel, you should disable the winbond
ATA/IDE driver. and make the sound driver a part of the kernel (not a
module)
The 2.4.8 runs smoothly on my iMac (Rev a), except the sound module. It only
works if it is compiled in the kernel.

Subject: Kernel compilation.

        Hello!:

With YDL 2.0 and my iMac, can I download a kernel source
from
ftp.kernel.org and compile it??, or I need to apply any kind of patches
..

Whe I compile the kernel (2.2.19), I copy it to /boot,
create the
modules and must I run ybin ??.

Only questions from a new "ppc-linux" user :)).
