Hello all,

Trying to install the iptables-1.2.2.-1 rpm. I have just compiled a new
kernel and it is running rather nicely. Kernel I am running is
2.4.9-benh0.

The command I use for the install is;
rpm --install iptables-1.2.2-1.ppc.rpm

But then it comes back telling me;
error: failed dependencies:
        kernel >= 2.4.0 is needed by iptables-1.2.2-1

So, I checked a few things,
dmesg tells me: Linux version 2.4.9-benh0
rpm -v kernel tells me: kernel-2.2.17-0.6.1

I do indeed have the 2.2.17 kernel on my machine, but it is not being
used. I keep it around cause it works. and it is the last kernel I was
ruinning before attempting the new 2.4 trees.

So, I then attempted doing;
rpm --force --install iptables-1.2.2-1.ppc.rpm

and got the same failed dependencies message.

Is there a way around this? Do I need to get rid of the 2.2.17 kernel
altogether now?

Any ideas/suggestions woudl be great.
TIA.

Murias
