Subject: Your spam filter is getting it wrong.

Gee guys, Since when is a message from a bona fide mail list for a commecial
company considered spam? ;-)

Hundreds of members of our list have been seeing multiple messages like the
one reproduced below from your spam filter or several days now. We would
like you to take action on this.

Our messages ,which your software is rejecting, are anything but spam. Some
intended recipients who receive mail through your servers are probably
wondering why they are not getting their messages.

It might be the case, that one of your less knowlegable users has at one
time subscribed to the yellowdog-general list and then wished to un-subscribe
but didn't know the correct procedure for doing so. They may have then
reported the list to you as a source of "spam". If this is the case, the
correct procedure would be to instruct the user in how to learn the correct
procedure for un-subscribing and then have them do so. Fun isn't it? Its
all part of running a service.

As for the user or users in this case, unsubscribing is quite easy. All the
user need do to remove their name from the list is send an e-mail message
to yellowdog-general-unsubscribe@lists.yellowdoglinux.com

Keep in mind that this is not an "opt out " procedure or anything of the
kind. The user must have specifically requested being added to the
yellowdog-general mailing list by sending an e-mail request and must send a
confirming e-mail in response to a reply to their request to subscribe. It
just isn't possible to do this accidentally. But you probably knew that
already.

You should be aware that if you continue to treat bona fide mailing list
entries as spam, you're going to get more than a few angry e-mails from the
hundreds or thousands of members of such lists.

Good luck straigtening out this mess. If there's any way we can help, just
e-mail me and I'll forward your message to the list.

-Pat

-- Don't get mad, get reasonable! --

They're probably just like us - overworked and underpaid
let's give em a couple of days to respond....
