Subject: root device not found after adding some drives, building new kernel.

Before: 1 physical HD (Quantum), CD-ROM, floppy. The root partition is
on dev8/sda9
Now: 1 drive on MESH (Quantum with 08:09)
1 drive on NCR (external SCSI)
1 drive on Adaptec 2940UW (IBM UltraStar)
CD ROM, Floppy
After a helluva long time of struggling, I finally got the Adaptec card
to work in my 7500/g3-300. But now I have this kernel panic that tells
me something like "VFS error: can't find root partition on 08:09"
Are there any kernel arguments I have to enter or changes to be made to
my BootX config? If it matters, the UltraStar is one, HFS+ partition.
I plan to format it in Linux. Should I just unformat it in mac OS and
then deal with it?
Thanks,
John Norair
