Subject: yup and the kernel

My brother was running mandrake on his pc (he's since removed it) and I was
telling him about yellowdog's yup. According to him, mandrake has a similar
updater but it doesn't work for kernel updates. What about yup? How are
kernel updates done on a YDL system? I cringe just thinking about compiling a
kernel update myself ;)
