Hi all,

YDL2.1, installed on the flowing hardware configuration:

  - Quicksiver G4 733Mhz,
  - nVidia GeForce2 MX (stock video card in the 733Mhz model Quicksilver G4),
  - Nokia 445pro 21-inch CRT monitor plugged into the nVidia's VGA port

Configured as:

  - Nokia 445pro selected in X11Config step of installation.
  - 32bit color, 1024x768 didn't work.
    16bit color, 1024x768 WORKS kinda but screen flickers badly in
graphical mode (no flicker in non-graphical mode).
    16bit color, 1600x1200 WORKS better -- minimal flicker -- but
everything is too tiny at this res.

I have been using, as root,
/usr/lib/yi/dexter.py [RETURN]
to noodle with the settings
(no, it is not located at /usr/var/lib/yi/dexter.py as indicated in
YDL support:
<http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/support/solutions/configuration/dexter.shtml>
but I found it at /usr/lib/yi/dexter.py )

In the YDL site Engineer's Notes
<http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/products/guide_to_install.shtml#notes>
I read (third item from page bottom):

  ``Video cards: nVidia GeForce2 and ATI Radion cards are supported via
  the VGA port only. The Apple Display Connector (ADC) on these cards
  are not supported at this time. The nVidia GeForce3 is also not
  supported at this time.''

Seems kinda sorta. My nose will be bumping into my screen at
1600x1200 resolution ;=).

Anyone have a suggestion how I might get the graphical interface to
work in YDL2.1 at 1024x768 resolution to work on my Nokia 445pro,
without flickering (it doesn't flicker in text mode nor in MacOS,
just linux graphical interface)?

Thanks,

Roger
