Hi,

Happy Holidays! - The latest release of OpenOffice.org (build OO641C) for
PPC Linux is now available!

OpenOffice.org is based on the same source tree (with a few minor
differences) as the upcoming StarOffice 6.0. It basically supplies
an almost drop in replacement for Microsoft Office (and is getting
better with every release).

New in this release
----------------------

- now built with glibc-2.2.4 and -z combreloc enabled to help
speed the startup of OpenOffice (need glibc-2.2.4 to see speedup)

- lots of font related improvements and bug fixes

- fixes for both KDE and Sawfish window manager issues

- spell checking in multiple languages now supported
with easy to install thrid party dictionaries supported
and coming soon for Portuguese, Dutch, German, Italian,
Russian, Spanish, and English (United Kingdom)

For more information including the full source code check out the
OpenOffice.org website:

http://www.openoffice.org

This binary should run on any ppc linux system with glibc 2.2.1 or
higher, XFree86 4.0 or higher, etc.

The new home for PPC Linux OpenOffice.org releases is:

ftp://ftp.yellowdoglinux.com/pub/yellowdog/software/openoffice/

The name of the *latest* installer is: oo641ca_installer.tar.gz

The OpenOffice.README_ppclinux contains installation instructions
and more information.

Due to the late nature of this release, the mirror sites at SuSE and
Mandrakesoft have not yet been updates with the latest release but should
be early in the new year.

Thank you Dan Burcaw (YDL) for providing a new home of the PPC Linux
OpenOffice.org project. And thanks to Olaf Hering ( of SuSE) and
Stew Benedict (of Mandrakesoft) for graciously providing mirror
locations.

Please support our PPC Linux distributions and buy the latest
distributions, they are helping to bring great new software to you!

Thanks,

Kevin Hendricks
