Andrew,

You should have X running so that is listening on the network. You
will also need to set xhost + IP. This allows others to connect to your X
session that is running. This is a security feature. This is done so that
no one can connect to X without you specifically allowing it. check man
xhost for the proper setting that you may need. My suggestion would also be
to use ssh, as it encrypts all traffic over the network. I believe that it
encrypts the X session, because it is just a payload on the SSL connection.
I may be wrong at that point, so if anyone knows exactly, would you please
respond? Thank you. SSH also tends to be a little more reliable than good
old telnet. BTW, what X-windows package are you using for win32? is it the
humming bird one, maestro?

Subject: remote X server authentication

I'm trying to get YDL 2.0 on my Beige G3 to act as a client for a remote X
server. I'm using the
X-Win32 server package from my PC and attempting to initiate the connection
via ksh, but this
fails, the server claiming "Permission denied". I've ensured that the
server accepts the client's
IP address, and that the ksh server is running on the YDL box, but I don't
know very much about
xinetd and network authentication in general, and don't really know where to
go from here. Any
help is appreciated :-)

-Andrew
