This is for pcmcia in the kernel. I would not suggest using that version of
the services, for most situations. if you use pcmcia-cs, you can recompile
a newer version of the service to add support for a new device without
having to recompile your kernel. This is _extremely_ convenient and
basically trouble free. You do need to enable Plug and Play in the kernel
config, but other than that, the userland pcmcia works great. plus, you can
start and stop it really easily to get a driver loaded/unloaded.

I am informed that the Yellowdog 2.1 distribution includes a kernel which
supports PCMCIA. "pcmcia" appears somewhere in the name. Evidently if
that kernel is not available a module must be pulled into an existing
kernel.

The question still remains, however, has anyone successfully implemented a
PCMCIA ethernet card on a powerbook under yellowdog. Also is there a
specific driver required for the ethernet card (in addition to the PCMCIA
module in the kernel).
