Subject: compiling PPC kernel on i386

i want to compile a new kernel to be used on my
PowerMac 6100 with YDL 2.1. since i don't have it
working right yet, all i have is my Athlon 750 linux
box. does gcc have support for ppc? i tricked the
kernel menuconfig into thinking it was configuring for
a ppc. but how do i get gcc to put out ppc instructions?
