You seem to be missing sendmail. If you aren't running any
inet services, then you don't need xinetd.

None of this has very much to do with performance. Even if a
service is on, if it isn't doing anything, it doesn't take many
resources. If the OS needs the RAM, the process will get
swapped out to disk.
