I'm following this thread with interest, as I'm dealing with a similar
problem. I've go a nice used Bronze Powerbook, I just acquired. No
MacOS9 CD, and a spare HD. I successfully installed CS1.2 in 12 minutes
on an existing x86 setup Linux partition, but can't boot it.

Did a little research on Open Firmware, but that doesn't seem to get me
anywhere either as apparently you still need yaboot to load the kernel up.

Finally I decide to go for broke, booted the tasty morsels CD, and ran
fdisk to clean the partition table, then pdisk to initialize a Mac
partition table and create a boot loader partition. Unfortunately, pdisk
does not seem to want to write a virgin table that hasn't previously been
setup by MacOS.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Stew Benedict
