Please pardon me for cross-posting this on the yellowdog-general and the
MOL-general lists.

I'm trying to share my yellow doc linux (Champion server 1.2 with
kernel 2.2.17 installed) extfs filesystem with MOL using netatalk but I'm
having problems.

When I start netatalk I get this error:

[root@porky init.d]# /etc/rc.d/init.d/atalk start
Starting AppleTalk services: socket: Invalid argument
socket: Invalid argument
atalkd: can't get interfaces, exiting.
                                                           [FAILED]
[root@porky init.d]#

The netatalk-1.4b2+asun2.1.3-8 RPM seems to be installed correctly and
eth0 is up. I haven't edited any config files except I tried putting
the line "eth0" (w/o quotes) in /etc/atalk/atalkd.conf I'd appreciate any
tips I can get to get it to work.

I have another question about netatalk. Is it possible to set it up so
that the Mac system does not leave resource information on the shared
Linux file system? How? I'd like to use the shared files in both OSes and
to keep the clutter down as seen from the Linux side.

Is it possible to set up netatalk to do filesharing over IP? how?

This next question is mostly about MOL. Once I get it going, do I have to
use Appleshare over IP on the Mac when running MOL to see the Linux file
system? Is this possible to do with MacOS 8.6 or do I need 9.X? If it can
be done in 8.6, I'd appreciate some tips as to how.

Thanks in advance for any help!
