 I bought the DOS version of Virtual PC (cause it is the cheapest), and
installed Linux Mandrake without any problems. More on how here:

It certainly wasn't zippy, probably due to the fact that I had it on a
slow scsi drive, and not a lot of RAM at the time. I think one of the
other factors might be that the linux distro couldn't calculate a decent
BogoMips (it gave me 1.64 BogoMips, when it should have at least been a
couple hundred).
