I must be the only person we thought ipchains was only compatible with the
2.2.x line of kernels.

iptables and Netfilter are for the 2.4 kernels which YDL 2.1 contains being
a modified RH 7.1 install.

When I installed it I had to first remove all traces of ipchains and install
iptables which was a bit complicated. google searches are what did it for
me.

If ipchains works with 2.4 kernels I couldn't figure it out, but that is not
always a good indicator of anything.
