Ray,

You may want to elaborate on "useable". What my uses are may very
well not be the uses you are looking for. I am not trying to start a flame
war, I would like to know where you are finding limitations, and how we may
be able to help you work around them. I am a programmer who needs a quick,
stable development machine that can do portable C using GCC and a
workstation that I can do simplistic Word Doc editing, the ability to access
NFS servers, and has a precompiled version of Mozilla available. Pretty
simplistic for example's sake, but that is the jist of it. You may need
something that is more GUI oriented, if that is what you mean by "usable".
I find the system very "usable". It supports 10/100 Ethernet, my Airport
card, sound, and the full resolution of my screen, I am on an iBook, and
Hopefully soon, a Pismo, but that is still up in the air. :( Anyway, let us
know where you are having trouble, and we may be able to point you in a
direction.

Darren

P.S.

Anyone know what may happen if I replace my /etc/yellowdog-release from 2.1
with 2.0 to install Ximian?

I really want PAN and balsa, but they need library versions that are not
available in an RPM format from TSS.

Thanks.

I do have a copy of Red Hat already on VirtualPC but found I didn't
like it all. I thought it will be a long time before Linux will even
be useable for the general public. I was hoping Yellow Dog would be
different but I'm getting the feeling that is basicially the same. I
do hope there will be time where it will be more practical for anyone
to use.
