You may want to try the ALSA drivers (0.9.0beta10) from:

        http://www.alsa-project.org/

I have been able to get sound from KDE and also play audio CD's through XMMS.

To install the driver, follow the instructions in the INSTALL file. Use the
following ./configure line to compile:

./configure --with-cards=pmac

Once you are able to succesfully load the driver, you will want the following
lines in /etc/modules.conf:

        alias char-major-116 snd
        options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1
        alias snd-card-0 snd-card-pmac
        options snd-card-pmac snd_index=0
        alias char-major-14 soundcore
        alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
        alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
        alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
        alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
        alias sound-service-1-0 snd-mixer-oss
        alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
        alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss

When you reboot, you should have sound in KDE and be able to play audio CD's
using XMMS.
