Actually, there is a kernel module for mounting HFS volumes that works with
netatalk, but it can be problematic if I recall correctly. There are many
roundabout ways of doing what you want, with their own caveats:

1) use MOL
2) Install an SMB (Windows file sharing) client/server (such as Dave) on the
remote Mac(s), and use Samba to mount
3) Install an FTP server on the remote Mac(s), and use FTP
4) Install an NFS server on the remote Mac(s), if there is still one
available, which I am not certain, and use NFS
5) Activate personal web sharing on the remote Mac(s), and use a browser
