I have a TiBook 550mhz as well, with the benh 2.4.18 kernel and YDL 2.1. I
have not gotten any sounds out of it yet but then I haven't really given it
much effort either (maybe because itunes is so nice). I was wondering if you
did anything special to get mp3s to play, besides installing the new kernel.
most of my multimedia apps crash, and I can't get the cd player (XMMS, cdp) to
play a regular cd. btw: have you gotten the modem to work?

will taggart
