Your answer would e found in your log file. By default, logging may not be
enabled. If it is, you can find the log file by perusing the configuration
file my.cnf (which could be in /etc, /usr/local/etc, or elsewhere: you may
try using the find command to locate it, if it exists), or the rc script
(you are looking for a -l option passed to safe_mysqld). If logging is not
enabled, enable it. You will lead a much happier Linux life if you do.
