Not to say "me too", but I compiled a new 2.4.17 (stable) kernel from source
this weekend and have the same problem. I have not had the chance to look into
it specifically, since I am more focused on getting my IRDA port to work. The
problem could need a kernel patch to be resolved.

BTW-
Copying the dmasound.pmac module from the 2.4.10-12a RPM gives the same errors
you describe above.
