Interesting. I can't comment on the /usr partition being too small,
but I did have -exactly- the same thing happen to me on a
PowerTowerPro with a PowerLogix upgrade card. And when that part of
the install barfed, so did -parts- (but not -all-) of the rest of the
install.

Except for swap, I have one partition, /, so YDL was free to make
/usr as big as it needed. My drive was only 1Gig in size, though;
however, I think the issue may be with the installer itself, because
I have now pretty much got everything on there and working (tight
though) through manual intervention.

The first thing -I- noticed after the install failure was no symlink
for the mouse device. Check /dev and create mouse -> adbmouse if it
is not there. Then try mouseconfig again.

I dicked with this and other small issues for -2 days- after running
the installer. I finally got it working, but I didn't keep notes, a
sure measure of my overconfidence at being able to navigate and
figure Linux out :-). So I can't remember if the mouse device stuff
was the primary problem. But it's now working, including X and KDE.
I'm still reserving judgement on the YDL installer after the matter.
