Hi,

Here's my setup: YDL CS 1.2 on a Sawtooth G4/450, Rage Pro, ViewSonic
P815 display.

I installed the XFree86 4 RPMs from
<ftp://devel.linuxppc.org/users/howarth/xf4>, and I'm noticing an
immediate improvement over the 3.3.6 version I had been using. There's
one point I'm stuck on, however--I'm stuck in 1024x768x24.

My 3.3.6 /etc/X11/XF86Config file has scads of modelines in it, and I was
able to switch to at least a couple of them with command-control +/-
(althought this didn't work extremely well. I got a _lot_ of flicker at
1280x1024, which I don't get in Mac OS).

But in the 4.0 config file (using the example for r128 found at the above
URL, with my monitor's refresh rates in place of the default values), I
don't see any mode lines. Is there a way to automatically probe for the
modes my card/monitor will support and have them added to the file?

Thanks.

Phil
