G4 - how hard can this be?

So, I'm trying my first install (YDL 1.2) on a G4 Sawtooth with a
9.0.4 installation. Before now, I've been strictly old-world with the
RH installer. I at least know enough that I'm not going to try my
luck with BootX.

So I scan the YDL 1.2 CD. No PDF install guide except for 1.1.4,
which doesn't cover G4/yaboot.

So I go to <http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/products/guide.shtml>.
Connection to
<ftp://c3po.terraplex.com/pub/terrasoftsolutions/yellowdog/> appears
to be impossible. No evidence that there are too many users. Just
never makes a connection.

So I try <http://lists.yellowdoglinux.com/> to search the archives.
Same response always: nothing found. For grins I tried searching for
really obscure words like "linux" and/or "install" and/or "G4".
Nothing found. But really before I search any archive (including
LinuxPPC), I'd prefer just a simple multi-step process. I can mostly
figure it out from there, and consult the lists after/if I have
problems. Besides, who wants to search through hundreds or thousands
of list messages unless forced to?

So I go back to the CD. look through the read mes. Can't find a
single comment like "first, move yaboot.conf here" etc. I did at
least take a wild guess and try to boot from the YDL CD. Nope.

I don't want to ask the list for the 1000th time: "how do I do it?"
And I know the list would appreciate me avoiding that.

But someone please tell me that this isn't as absolutely as pathetic
and unacceptable as it sounds. I just want a simple "begin here."
I'll figure it out from there. AFAICT, YDL does not or is not (as of
13:30 EDT 07-28-00) providing this.

What am I missing? Somebody or something is completely incompetent
here. I'll admit it if it's me.
