continued corruption

after much fiddling, poking and genrally waiting around to see if my rpm
databases fixed themselves, they are still corrpted. hmmm mm ,,.

i tried using db_dump + db_load, but end up with just a list (or screenful) of
numbers.

so, any suggestions on how i could fix this, if rpm --updatedb core dumps, and i
cant get anything meaningfull from the db utils?
