A dependency check is when one piece of software requires another
piece of software to be present in order for it to work. For example,
programs that are written in perl require the perl interpretter to
be on your system. Some of these programs require more recent
versions of perl than others.

If you get a dependency check error, you can always revert to doing
the upgrade by hand. Start by installing/upgrading the missing
piece of software. Then go back and install the software you were
trying to install/upgrade in the first place. As with most Linux
distributions, once you get the package, you can install it on
a YDL system using the rpm command (type "man rpm" for all of the cool
options and things you can do with rpm).
