I'm trying to get the installer to work with my dual-G4, but it keeps
hanging. I know that my graphics card (Raedon with Cinema Display) wont
do graphics, but I can't even get the text-based installer to run. I've
tried every boot image on the initial menu (eg: install-novideo,
cd-install-novideo, cd-linux-novideo) and I've even tried concatenating
the "video=aty128fb:vmode:14" to each of them.

The same symptoms occur: the elf kernel image loads and then I stare at:

Welcome to Linux, kernel 2.2.19-1i

started at : 0x01400000
linked at : 0xc0000000
frame buffer at : 0x9c008000 (phys), 0x9c008000 (log)
MSR : 0x00003030
HID0 : 0x8014c0a4
ICTC : 0x00000000

booting...

and that's it. It just sits saying "booting" forever. I'd love to get
two questions answered:

1) Does anyone know what the problem is?
2) Should I abandon trying to get Linux to run on this computer?

Cheers,

Murray Todd Williams
