Hi all,
I will call uncle on this one!
I am trying to print from a PowerMac 5500 running YDL1.2 2.2.15-2.9.0
to the printer serial port with an Epson Stylus 600 hooked up.
During bootup I get the message:
PowerMac Z8530 serial driver version 2.0
turning serial ints on
tty01 at 0xf3013000 (irq = 16) is a Z8530 ESCC, port = printer
So I know that it is at least there and recognized. Then I use the
setserial command to check it:
# setserial -a tty01
/dev/tty01: No such file or directory
So then I try:
# setseria -a /dev/ttyS0
i get,
/dev/ttyS0, Line 1, UART: unknown, Port: 0xf3013000, IRQ: 16
Baud_base: 0, close_delay: 50, divisor: 16
closing_wait: 3000, closing_wait2: infinte
Flags: spd_normal
So I set then in printtool I set the device to /dev/ttyS0 since this
has the same IRQ. And yes it is plugged into the proper port in the
back.
I also chgrp to lp for the spooler and chmod 755 all the lp files and
directories.
I try to print a test page and get nothing. No blinking light even.
I have used several different cables. The last time I used this
printer via Mac OS 8.6 it worked just fine.
I also have a networked printer which works great via X and via
samba. So I know that the printing services are working. I assume
that there is something with configuring the serial port and I can
not find what to do from here. TIA for any help!
