Subject: System date on G4's

G'Day All
What am I missing?
I type in the command date and receive the year as 1970. This G4 Mac has
just had the mainboard replaced.
Can I change the date under Yellow Dog Linux or can I change the system
date?
Some of the other dates are out by about 8 hours.
I am in Australia/Queensland and have set up YLD to Australia/Queensland.
I have installed Internet Server version, no X.
