YellowDog Linux 2.0 on RS/6000 42T (microchannel bus)?

Back in March 2000, I asked here whether YellowDog Linux 1.2 would run
on RS/6000 workstations with Microchannel bus. You kindly replied
letting me know it wouldn't, because the Microchannel bus was not
supported, and saying you'd make sure the hardware list would be
updated. Indeed, it was.

As time passed, I've got questions from various people asking whether
I had any news on getting it to work. I had to tell them I hadn't
pursued the issue, but that your hardware compatibility list indeed
still listed RS/6000 42T as unsupported. But now release 2.0 is out,
and I'm sure I'm going to get a number of questions from those who
search the mailing lists and find my earlier question. If I'm lucky,
they'll also find this newer question, along with an updated answer :-)

Is there any chance that YellowDog Linux 2.0 will run on these old
workstations? The hardware compatibility list mentions ``Older
PowerPCs'', but, even though the unsupported hardware list doesn't
explicitly mention Microchannel or RS/6000 42T, it says the PowerPC
Linux kernel requires a PCI bus-based architecture, so I suppose we're
still out of luck. Are we?

Thanks in advance,
