You might try gmix. If that doesn't do the trick, try aumix. That
latter worked for me. Here's a sample
.aumixrc file:
vol:75:75:P
speaker:0:0:P
line:0:0:P
mic:0:0:P
cd:0:0:P
pcm2:0:0:P
rec:1:1:P
monitor:0:0:P
