Yeah, well - it seems like yellowdog installs X to use the XFree binary
which is XF86_FBDev. I had trouble with a YDL install as well because of
that.Do realize that the startx script doesn's always use your linked X.

SO be sure to:
1. Check your kernel - is it recent?
2.Try passing the server to startx
