I hope someone can help me here... I am running a '98 G3 Powerbook with
YellowDog 2.1 on it, on a removable bay hard drive. I am still very new
and poking me way around it. It recently froze and I, not knowing that it
wouldn't deal well with it, did the three finger salute without thinking
about it. Now, I can't reboot. It starts to boot and then tells me that
/dev/hde8 (my root) wasn't unmounted cleanly and then it stops there.
After that, I get nothing. Is there some way to recover this without
reinstalling everything?

I would have just started from scratch, but my home was recently
burgleraized and they took my install disk and my burner so I can't just
download the image and burn a CD. I did try booting from the ram disk, on
the theory that I could get to a shell prompt and run fsck, but when I
tried the command-f2 to get out of the installer screen to the shell
prompt, nothing happened at all...

Any help would be extremely appreciated...

Thanks,
Christopher
