hi,
I think that you need to add the routes,
just type route and you will see two routes 127.0.0.1 (loopback) and
10.0.0.229 (eth0),
you need at least to add 2 more routes 10.0.0.299 netmask 255.255.255.255
for the
eth0 and a default route for the net, ex: route add default eth0.
Without the routes the system won´t forward any trafic to the net or it
won´t go back,
