I found the same things out myself (as stated in my last post) - although
the CD installed kernel seems to be working thus far on the B50.

Holy crap - I just got the HD to boot with:
setenv boot-device /pci@80000000/scsi@10/sd@2:1
setenv boot-file :,\zimage root=/dev/sda5
and a boot.

Quick! Box it! Ship it!

Huzzah! I can go home!
