How do I correctly configure an iMac 56k modem for Yellowdog Linux?
I'm trying to set up an internet connection with Yellow Dog
Linux on a year and half old iMac.
I'm having no luck with the internal modem connection. Can anyone
make a suggestion on a new
direction to go in?
Linux for Dummies says that I can use the statserial program with
various device modifiers (cua0,
cua1, cua2, cua3, ttyS0, ttyS1, ttyS2, and ttyS3) to determine
which port my modem is connected
to. The correct connection will supposedly display a 1 for both
CLEAR TO SEND and DATA SET
READY. I got these results:
No such device - cua 2, cua3, ttyS2, ttyS3
CTS 1, DSR 0 - cua0, ttyS0
CTS 0, DSR 0 - cua1, ttyS1
In other words, no setting gives me a 1 for both CTS and DSR. (The
modem works fine with Mac OS)
